Flood Action Week 2026 is upon us, and now is the time for educational settings to assess flood risks in their emergency and Climate Action Plans. With increasing flood risks due to climate change and a super-strong El Niño, there is an urgent need for preparedness and community-wide strategies to mitigate potential impacts on schools. Fortunately, there are resources and guidance to help.

Nepal Floods, Unseen Disasters and the Stories We Choose to Tell

A reflection on the devastating Nepal-Tibet floods, the emerging evidence of an ice-and-rock avalanche, and the difficulty of discussing climate change before formal attribution is possible. Alistair and I also consider why some disasters remain visible while others are forgotten, and how teachers can keep human experience at the centre of hazards education.
