The climate crisis is a safeguarding issue. Geography teachers are on the front line. My new chapter in 'What is Geography Teaching, Now?' is out now. I explore how we can move beyond teaching dire facts to become storytellers and enablers for a generation facing eco-anxiety. Opinion: Populism, science denial – How I, as a trans science-communicator, am moving forward.
I recorded and unscripted and unedited video commentary, where I laid my thoughts and feelings bare on current affairs. The re-election of Trump, effective concession that we'll miss 1.5C climate target, increasing hostility to the science community, step-up in anti-trans actions and rhetoric... It's all overwhelming. So what's next for me?
Coffee & Geography: Learning from everyday conversations (GAConf22 Session)
Started as a pandemic โcomfort projectโ but growing into something so much more, Coffee and Geography was a podcast where I simply chatted to people. These chats led to exploring connections and intersections through a geographical lens, but also helped to broaden my horizons, check my own privilege, and bring back some faith in humanity. Bring a brew and come and find out what Iโve learnt, which can be useful anecdotes and aids in the classroom, from these โeverydayโ conversations.
My experience of geography fieldwork as a trans kid: a call for reflection
As schools start thinking about a return to residential fieldtrips, I share, for the first time, some traumatic memories in order to encourage all educators who engage in fieldwork, field centers and tutors to reflect and consider the extent they create a safe environment for all children, in this case, gender non-conforming and transgender children. Content warning included.

Ruskin Asks
At the end of the 2015-16 academic year, I had a young whipper-snapper of an Outstanding budding teacher called Mr Moses. Hear me talk about my career experiences and the things I learnt along the way.

Geographical Decade Review: 2010-2019 (Part 1)
It was the decade within which I started this blog, and followers of it have been welcomed to be privvy to my, very personal, journey that has taken place. I'll neither be reflecting on that nor just simply giving highlights of posts that I've made. So forget the run-down of the top pop-hits of the … Continue reading Geographical Decade Review: 2010-2019 (Part 1)
